Every rechargeable pod kit and mod runs on a lithium battery, and while they're safe when treated properly, a few bad habits can turn a battery into a genuine hazard. Here's what our staff check for free at the counter, so you can spot the same things at home.
Do
- Use the charging cable that came with your device, or a like-for-like replacement — mismatched chargers are one of the most common causes of battery damage.
- Let devices cool before charging if you've been using them heavily.
- Store spare batteries in a case, away from loose keys or coins that can short the terminals.
- Bring in anything that looks swollen, dented or discoloured — we'll check it for free, no obligation.
Don't
- Don't leave devices charging unattended overnight on soft furnishings like beds or sofas.
- Don't use a device with a swollen or leaking battery — stop immediately and bring it in.
- Don't carry loose batteries in a pocket or bag without a protective case.
- Don't expose batteries to extreme heat, including leaving devices in direct sun or a hot car.
Not sure if a battery is still safe? That's exactly what our free battery safety check is for — bring it in and we'll take a look, no charge, no pressure to buy a replacement.
Warning Signs to Bring In Immediately
